New student

  • Accessing the housing application:

If you are experiencing trouble logging in, get your active directory credentials by following the Account Access Steps for New Users.

  • Housing deposit:

Be prepared to pay a $250 application/deposit fee for housing. The cost is divided into a $150 housing deposit and a $100 non-refundable housing application charge. You will only need to pay this cost once as long as you are under contract with us.

  • Application for housing deadline:

The housing application can be finished at any time. It is crucial to keep in mind that we base assignments on the date the application was submitted in its entirety. You have a better chance of acquiring your first selections in housing the earlier you complete this.

  • Roommate matching:

You will have the chance to provide information about yourself when completing the application; this information is utilized to help assign a roommate or pair you up with another student. Please answer honestly and with that in mind. Answer the questions based on your present actions rather than your idealized future selves.

  • Roommate requests:

You must conduct a portal search for the student you want to request as a roommate. Please be aware that you will not be able to locate them if they have not submitted the application. Requests for roommate matches must come from both parties. Requests for roommates must be confirmed in the system by April 30th in order to be guaranteed (for students arriving for the 2019-2020 school year).

  • Housing preferences:

In the application, you will have the chance to rank various residence hall options. Suite-style and traditional building designs are available to first-year students.

Blazerview app for mobile phones and tablets

VSU students and teachers can access the D2L learning management system through the free mobile app Brightspace Pulse, which VSU refers to as “Blazeview.” The Brightspace Pulse app is recommended for faculty members and students to download to their tablets and smartphones. These are a few of its attributes:

  • The calendar, readings, assignments, grades, and course documents are all easily accessible.
  • Students can take quizzes, submit assignments (including photographs and videos), and participate in discussion forums.
  • Use an email facility to exchange messages with an instructor and specific students.
  • Alerts in real-time when new course materials and grades are available.

VSU teachers and students can still use a web browser on their mobile devices to access all of BlazeVIEW even though the app does not have all of the features that a computer would have.
