Even though your new Fairfax home will probably already have run water when you move in, you still need to set up water service with Fairfax County Water. Fortunately, Fairfax has made it fairly simple with the following online form. Typically, it just takes two business days to begin service.
Stopping Your Service

Get your balance by calling customer service at 703.698.5800 during business hours. You can also use our IVR, or automated system. You can use the automated system or IVR after business hours.
You’ll need your thirteen-digit account number and the zip code for the service address in order to use our automated system. Call us at 703.698.5800 and, during business hours, choose option 3 from the menu. choose option 2 after work hours. You will be informed of your current account balance, due date, and most recent payment date and amount.
Except on holidays, account information is updated once daily, by 7:00am ET, from Tuesday through Saturday.

How can I establish service as a property tenant (renter)?
Your landlord or his/her authorized representative is required to complete and submit a Tenant Authorization Form to Fairfax Water in accordance with § 15.2-2119 of the Code of Virginia. This form gives Fairfax Water the approval necessary to start providing service in your name as the tenant.
After submitting the form, please give it two to three hours before phoning customer care at (703) 698-5800 to request service in your name. Prior to service activation, a $190 Lien Offset Payment must be made in advance. The Lien Offset Payment is a down payment that will be applied to your final invoice following the disconnection of your service.
If I didn’t get the activation email, how can I activate my account?
First, look for the activation link in your garbage or spam folders. Please call our customer service department at (703) 698-5800 if you can’t find it; we’ll be pleased to resend the email to you.
