Numerous resources are available from the Connecticut Department of Labor for people who are seeking work or are unemployed. The UC program is intended to give eligible people who are out of work due to no fault of their own temporary financial support.

Claimants must first submit a claim with the Department of Labor in order to obtain UC funds. Any American Job Center accepts claims through phone, online, or in person. After filing a claim, claimants are required to take part in reemployment services and regularly look for work.

Based on the claimant’s prior wages, UC payments can be obtained for up to 26 weeks. If claimants meet specific requirements and have used up all of their regular UC benefits, they may also be qualified for extended benefits. You might be qualified for benefits if you lost your job or had your hours cut.

Visit the website of the Connecticut Department of Labor for further details about the UC program, including how to submit a claim, or get in touch with your neighborhood American Job Center.

ReEmployCT: Connecticut’s new tax

ReEmployCT, the state’s new system, was introduced on July 5, 2022 by the Connecticut Department of Labor (CTDOL). The new system accelerates the application process for unemployed individuals and the roughly 115,000 firms who contribute to the state’s Trust Fund, replacing the agency’s 40-year-old technology.

Connecticut is a member of a group of states that use the ReEmploy system; this reduces Connecticut’s operational expenses and enabled us to secure federal funding for the creation, construction, and introduction of the new system.
